Bush pens book to explain decisions

s widely expected, former US president George W Bush, like many past occupants of the Oval Office, is writing a book. But rather than penning amore traditional presidential memoir, Bush plans to write about twelve difficult personal and political decisions he has made in his life.
Bush mentioned the book in his first speech since leaving
office, delivered in Calgary, Canada, on Tuesday. The book is to be published by Crown Publishing Group, a division of Random House.
Tentatively titled Decision Points, the book is scheduled to be published in 2010. According to Robert Barnett, the Washington lawyer who ne
gotiated the deal with Crown on Bush’s behalf, the book will also cover Bush’s decisions relating to September 11, the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq and the government’s response to Hurricane Katrina. Barnett said Mr. Bush wouldalso write about why he ran for president, his decision to quit drinking, his discovery of religious faith and his relationships with his parents, wife and siblings.
Barnett said Bush has been working on
a draft since two days after he left office. “He’s already written 30,000 words,” said Barnett. Barnett declined to disclose terms of the book deal. Bill Clinton, for whom Barnett also negotiated a book deal, received a $15 million advance for My Life, published in 2004. NYT NEWS SERVICE
